Heathen Apostles’ Bank Robber Music Video Anniversary
Today marks the eighth anniversary of the Heathen Apostles’ bank robber music video for their song “Fool’s Gold.” Released in 2015, this dark and cinematic video transports us back to the Depression era, where bank robbers are seeking refuge in a fortune teller’s lair after a heist. “Fool’s Gold” is undoubtedly one of their most popular songs, and the music video took it to another level. The video was directed by the band and the song was produced by Chopper Franklin. The video follows a gang of bank robbers as they seek refuge in a mysterious and otherworldly lair. The fate of these robbers is determined by Mather Louth’s fortune teller character, who has a magical connection to the spirits of the underworld.
The use of shadows, light, and symbolism further adds to the video’s atmospheric and eerie ambiance. The video shows us the consequences of greed and violence, as the robbers who seek to escape with their loot end up trapped in a cycle of fear. Louth’s fortune teller character represents a higher power that has the power to judge and punish, much like the spirits of the afterlife.
It’s a testament to the talent and creativity of the Heathen Apostles and their collaborators who brought it to life. The band continues to release new and exciting music that pushes the boundaries with their Gothic Americana style, so hold tight to see what they have in store in the future.

Heathen Apostles Return to Gothic Music Club
Chopper Franklin and Mather Louth at Bar Sinister
The Heathen Apostles will be returning to Bar Sinister for a Halloween show on Saturday October 29th. Bar Sinister is the premiere gothic music club in Los Angeles, located at 652 N. Cherokee Ave, Hollywood, just south of Hollywood Blvd.
The band will feature Pat Muzingo on drums, as well as other special guests that night. It is also the first Heathen Apostles US show since the release of their latest album Bloodgrass Vol. 3 & 4, out now on Ratchet Blade Records. You can check out the album HERE.

Heathen Apostles’ “Through The Forest” Dark Music Video Begins
The Heathen Apostles and director Jorge Jaramillo are collaborating again on what promises to be another dark music video. The video is for Deadly Nightshade, the lead song from their latest album Bloodgrass Vol. I & II, out now on Ratchet Blade Records. They have collaborated previously on the Paint the Stars video, released this past summer, and this video looks to be even grimmer than that effort. The project is currently in pre-production, with production assistance from Ana Sanchez, and will begin shooting in January of 2019. Check back for more details and BTS photos.

Heathen Apostles’ Death Came a Ridin’ Video Shoot Under Way
The shoot for Death Came a Ridin’ video has begun, it is the first video and single from the upcoming Bloodgrass Vol. I & II album, out on LP & CD on July 20th on Ratchet Blade Records. The Death Came a Ridin’ video is being directed by Ashley Joncas and will be debuted to coincide with the release of the Bloodgrass Vol. I & II album. Heathe Apostles “Evil Spirits” EP Cover Art Revealed
The Heathen Apostles have teamed up with the Helsinki vampire himself of 69 Eyes and 69 Cats fame, Jyrki 69 to release a special 4-track EP Evil Spirits on Ratchet Blade Records. The EP features two duets with lead Heathen vocalist Mather Louth, as well as two other killer tracks with Jyrki and Mather each taking the lead vocals. The EP will be available on August 28th, and those of you that will be at the 69 Cats shows in Finland can snag an early copy! Cover tintype by the amazing Allan Barnes.

Another great review of Moonshine Bright in the German magazine Ox Zine, pick up issue #118 for the review:
Name-dropping galore in the Press Release: this record was produced by the Cramps late bassist Chopper Franklin and the 
Moonshine cover final 1 smmastering was done by Geza X (the former producer of the Dead Kennedys and Black Flag. Moonshine Bright is album number five for the masked Hellbilly / Doom-country band from the USA. The genre style comes from the band itself, they blend a lively mix of styles from Southern Rock, punk, Alternative Country and a B-movie atmosphere. All in all it’s difficult to categorize: it is powerful, fully instrumented (supplemented by the classic country instruments: banjo, mandolin and violin), gloomy, aggressive and melodic. Bluegrass fiends will love the fast mandolin and banjo sections the best, and inevitably the rapid playing of Split Lip Rayfield comes to mind. But the again the next moment is a distorted guitar and the sound kicks into gloomy Rob Zombie to realms. The whole thing is exciting and is expected to attract fans of 16 Horsepower, Hank Williams III, The Meat Purveyors (and rockabilly and bluegrass in general) my equally much. 7 of 10 stars.

A couple of years back I wrote a review for a show I went to at the Redwood in Los Angeles. The show was Mau-Maus, Billy Bones and Symbol Six. Fun show, but I wasn’t overly enthused with the Mau-Maus performance. Now I didn’t fully slag them off, but I could have been a little nicer in my review.
Anyway, a year and a half, or so, later Mr. Rick Wilder shoots me an email saying that I was probably 99% accurate in my review. This surprised the shit out of me. Usually when a review doesn’t go a band’s way I get cursed at and told I know nothing about music. Not in this case. Mr. Wilder was a true gentleman and has become a bit of a friend. So, I told him to be fair, I’d come and check them out again next time they play.
On June 3, 2012, Permanent Records in Eagle Rock, CA created an event page on Facebook for an in-store show with the Mau-Maus promoting their new album, SCORCHED EARTH POLICIES: then and now.
Two or three weeks back I went to lunch with master photographer Edward Colver, and after lunch we stopped into Permanent Records. So, I knew exactly where it was. Great streamlined shop. Unlike most used records shops it’s not over-run with clutter.
Show is scheduled for 6:00, and I tried to take a shortcut which made me about twenty minutes late. I hate being late. Ran into the shop at about 6:25, 6:27. The shop was pretty empty. I figured Mau-Maus went on at 6:00, blew through their set and I missed the whole fucking thing. I went up to the counter, and asked the lady sitting there if “I missed the set?” She said, “No,” they were waiting for the opening band to set up. Whew.
I stood around and waited, no opening band. I bumped into a couple of friends who I saw the Mau-Maus with two years ago, Mary and Frank. Then a friend of my late uncle Rick’s comes up and introduces himself, Danny from Warning Label Records out of Boston. Small frickin’ world.
As I’m talking to Danny I hear the crowd start to buzz, “He’s here, he’s here.” The party has started. Rick Wilder, Michael Livingston, Scott Franklin and Paul Black did a few final tune-ups and they launched into a kick-ass set. My main complaint last time I saw them was I couldn’t hear Mr. Wilder’s vocals, not the case this time. The mike was held close to the grill throughout his performance.
Only problems they had was the mikes cut out once, then, I think, the amps cut for a minute. Both resolved quickly and then back to a powerful set.
Rick Wilder is a cool front man, people are drawn to him. You want to see what he’s going to do. And I have to mention Michael Livingston, he is such a great guitarist that it’s almost unbelievable.
Afterwards, Rick gave me a copy of their new album to review, and I hung out with him for a bit. The album review will be here soon, buy a copy. All in all, a great show.
